WOMEN'S LACROSSE POWERS OVER PENN STATE ABINGTON 19-3

AMBLER, PA – The Wilkes University women's lacrosse team powered over Penn State Abington 19-3 Saturday afternoon in a non-conference match at Sisters Field.

With the win, the Lady Colonels improve to 3-0 while the Lions fall to 0-3.

Wilkes got the offense rolling immediately, when Madeleine Brownsey (Glenside, PA/St. Basil Academy) scored just a minute and 56 seconds into the game. Gabby Ford (Elmont, NY/Sewanhaka) followed trading goals with Melanie Rivera (Middletown, NY/Middletown) before Tori Kerr (Beacon, NY/Beacon) laced two goals of her own. Carley Smith (York, PA/Dallastown), Shiama Kheiri (Danville, PA/Danville), and Elizabeth Bracco (Oceanside, NY/Oceanside) each netted goals of their own. Then, Kheiri assisted Bracco to end the period and give Wilkes a 13-0 edge going into the second half.

Olivia Dworak (Dupont, PA/Wyoming Seminary), Jackie Harrison (Baltimore, MD/Milford Mill Academy), and Brittaney Costigan (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa) each laced a goal in between the continued offense of Kerr and Smith.

Costigan earned the win in goal while making four stops. Wilkes was led offensively with hat tricks from Kerr, Ford, and Smith. Brownsey and Bracco scored two goals apiece.

The Lady Colonels return to the pitch March 20th when they travel to Albright College for a 4:30 p.m. contest.
