Wilkes falls to 7-2 and 1-1 in conference play while DeSales stands at 7-4 and 2-0 in the Freedom. After the Bulldogs scored seven runs in the first two frames, Wilkes answered with two runs of their own. Dan Pisanchyn (Clarks Summit, PA/Abington Heights) walked and advanced to third on a Stephen Ruch (Dallas, PA/Holy Redeemer) double. After a wild pitch scored Pisanchyn, Ruch was plated on an RBI single from A.J. Mihaly (Berwick, PA/Berwick Area). DeSales responded with nine runs in the top of the third and two runs in the fourth frame. In the bottom of the fifth, Ruch doubled to right center scoring both Bobby Schappell (Pottsville, PA/Pottsville) and Adam Misiura (Springbrook, PA/North Pocono) who reached on a hit batsman and a free pass. Wilkes got another run back in the bottom of the sixth after Zak Berg (Mountain Top, PA/Crestwood) doubled and then scored on an error by the first basemen on a ball hit by Eric Hauer (Wapwallopen, PA/Greater Nanticoke Area). Three more tallies were scored in the ninth on a three run double by Mihaly. Ruch, Mihaly, and Misiura led Wilkes with two hits each. The Bulldogs were led by Derek Chrismer and Alex Hardy with three hits apiece. Wilkes returns to Center Valley tomorrow afternoon for a doubleheader beginning at noon. Print Friendly Version
