EDWARDSVILLE – Six different Lady Colonels scored at least one goal as Wilkes University posted a 16-0 shutout victory over visiting Rosemont College Saturday afternoon at Schmidt Stadium in the Ralston Athletic Complex.
 
With the win, Wilkes improves to 4-1 overall on the year while Rosemont falls to 0-5 on the season.
 
Wilkes scored early and often to open a 5-0 lead after ten minutes of play. Carley Smith (York, PA/Dallastown) opened the game with one of her four tallies scoring in the first minute of the contest. Gabby Ford (Elmont, NY/Sewanhaka) and Tori Kerr (Beacon, NY/Beacon) each scored in the next two minutes as Wilkes led 3-0 with 25:02 on the first half clock.
 
A Smith goal followed by a strike from Shiama Kheiri (Danville, PA/Danville) and two more Kerr goals put Wilkes ahead 7-0 with 15:17 left until the break. The Lady Colonels used six more goals in the final fifteen minutes of play to take a 13-0 lead at the half.
 
Ford, Smith, and Olivia Dworak (Dupont, PA/Wyoming Seminary) scored Wilkes' second half goals as the Lady Colonels dominated play in its own offensive end for most of the contest.
 
Wilkes held a commanding 31-6 shot advantage while claiming 16 of the 18 draw controls in the contest.
 
Ford and Smith led the attack with four goals each while Ford added four assists in the win. Ford also picked-up a school-record 13 ground balls from her midfield position. Kerr followed with three tallies and Madeleine Brownsey (Glenside, PA/St. Basil Academy) and Kheiri both finished with two goals.
 
Brittaney Costigan (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa) recorded the win in net for Wilkes finishing with four saves.
 
The Lady Colonels remain idle through the Easter holiday before hosting SUNY Old Westbury Thursday, April 4 at 6:00 p.m. at Schmidt Stadium.
