Wilkes drops to 9-7 overall following the loss while Lebanon Valley improves to 6-14 on the season. Lebanon Valley grabbed a 2-0 lead after the first inning of play thanks to four straight singles. The LVC advantage grew to 9-0 after two as the Dutchmen scored seven runs on four hits in the frame. Wilkes got on the board in the third cutting the LVC lead to 9-3. Dan Pisanchyn (Clarks Summit, PA/Abington Heights) singled through the left side scoring Scott Skammer (Dallas, PA/Dallas) on the play. Adam Misiura (Springbrook, PA/North Pocono) followed with an RBI single and Tim Benner (Catawissa, PA/Southern Columbia) continued the scoring with an RBI double to centerfield plating Pisanchyn. An RBI triple in LVC's fourth upped the lead to 10-3 after five innings. Nick Craig (Springfield, PA/The Haverford School) came up big for Wilkes in the fifth connecting on a two-run single with two outs and the bases loaded to bring the Colonels to within five, 10-5. LVC answered back in the top of the sixth scoring three runs on three hits to extended its lead back to seven, 13-6. A bases-clearing double in the seventh gave LVC a 16-6 advantage, its largest of the contest. Stephen Ruch (Dallas, PA/Holy Redeemer) led-off the seventh with a double to right centerfield and later scored on Nick Craig (Springfield, PA/The Haverford School)'s RBI double to left field as Wilkes trailed 16-7 through seven innings of play. LVC added an insurance run in the eighth before Zak Berg (Mountain Top, PA/Crestwood) hit his first home run as a Colonel in the bottom of the ninth. Wilkes finished with 14 hits including a 3-for-4 day from Pisanchyn. He added two RBIs and scored twice in the contest. Bobby Schappell (Pottsville, PA/Pottsville) also added three hits, while Craig batted in three runs on two hits. Dylan Tamecki enjoyed a huge day at the plate for LVC hitting for the cycle going 5-for-6 with 10 RBI including a grand slam in the second. The Colonels used five pitchers throughout the game with starter Eric Hauer (Wapwallopen, PA/Greater Nanticoke Area) receiving the loss. Derek Brousseau picked up the win for LVC going six innings allowing six runs on ten hits. Wilkes continues its non-conference home stretch Wednesday when the Colonels host the University of Scranton at 4:00 p.m. at Artillery Park. Print Friendly Version
