WILKES WOMEN'S TENNIS BLANKS FDU-FLORHAM 7-0 IN FREEDOM PLAY

MADISON, NJ – The Wilkes University women's tennis team raced out to a 3-0 lead after doubles play before taking four singles flights on way to a 7-0 win at FDU-Florham Wednesday afternoon. The match was called with two singles flights still in play due to the heavy rain that swept through the East Coast.

Wilkes moves to 9-1 overall and remains perfect at 3-0 in Freedom play. FDU-Florham slips to 2-11 overall and 0-3 in league matches.

Wilkes took all three doubles matches allowing just one point through the three contests. Melanie Nolt (Manheim, PA/Manheim Central) began singles play with a straight set 6-0, 6-0 win over Megan Scherer at No. 1. Katie Lynn (Berwick, PA/Berwick) captured a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 2 before straight set wins (6-0, 6-0) from Ana English at No. 4 and Summer Lentini (Bear Creek, PA/Coughlin) at No. 6 sealed the Lady Colonels victory.
Wilkes returns to Freedom play Saturday hosting an undefeated Arcadia University team at 1:00 p.m. at the Ralston Athletic Complex.
