ARCADIA TOPS WILKES LACROSSE IN FREEDOM SEMIFINAL 16-11 4/30/2013 6:36:00 PM Box Score ARCADIA TOPS WILKES LACROSSE IN FREEDOM SEMIFINAL 16-11 GLENSIDE, Pa. – The Wilkes University women's lacrosse team fell to Arcadia 16-11 in their first ever Freedom playoff game Tuesday afternoon at Easton Field. Wilkes finishes the year at 10-4 overall while Arcadia improves to 14-4. Wilkes took 18 total shots in the first half, 13 of which were on goal, and seven of which found the net. The Lady Colonels battled the Knights back and forth through the first half, going into the break, down 8-7. Tori Kerr (Beacon, NY/Beacon) and Carley Smith (York, PA/Dallastown) kept Wilkes in the thick of things by each scoring two of their three goals in the first period. Madeleine Brownsey (Glenside, PA/St. Basil Academy) started the second half with a goal thirty seconds in and after a Haylee Molloy goal for the Knights, Kerr and Brownsey scored back-to-back goals to give Wilkes their first lead since the first half. Up 10-9, the Knights went on to score seven of the next eight goals to take the 16-11 victory. Haylee Molloy led all scorers with eight goals for the Knights. Jordyn Dunacusky made nine stops in net to earn the win. Offensively, Kerr, Brownsey, and Smith each scored three goals for Wilkes. Melanie Rivera (Middletown, NY/Middletown) and Gabby Ford (Elmont, NY/Sewanhaka) added single tallies. Brittaney Costigan (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa) made five saves garnering the loss. This season, the Wilkes University women's lacrosse program experienced their first ever ten win season as well as their first trip to the Freedom Conference playoffs. Print Friendly Version
