WILKES WOMEN'S TENNIS OPENS FREEDOM PLAY WITH 9-0 WIN AT EASTERN

ST. DAVIDS, PA – The Wilkes University women's tennis team captured all three doubles flights before posting straight set wins in all six singles matches to post a 9-0 win at Eastern University Saturday afternoon.

Wilkes moves to 8-1 overall and 1-0 in league matches while Eastern drops to 2-7 and 0-1 on the year.

Wilkes did not give up a point in any of it doubles matches sweeping the Eagles 8-0.

The Lady Colonels continued the trend in singles play posting straight set wins in all six matches. Melanie Nolt (Manheim, PA/Manheim Central) led the way at No. 1 with a 6-0, 6-3 win over Jenna Laubach. Ally Kristofco (Hollidaysburg, PA/Bishop Guilfoyle) followed with a 6-0, 6-1 victory at No. 2 while Katie Lynn (Berwick, PA/Berwick) posted a 6-0, 6-0 decision at No. 3.

Ana English (No. 4), Amanda Rossi (Fogelsville, PA/Parkland) (No. 5), and Summer Lentini (Bear Creek, PA/Coughlin) (No. 6) rounded out the Wilkes winners in singles play.

Wilkes returns to action Wednesday traveling to Madison, NJ for a Freedom matchup with FDU-Florham at 3:30 p.m.
