MEN'S SOCCER FALLS 1-0 IN HOME OPENER

EDWARDSVILLE, PA – Wilkes University men's soccer team opened up their 2013 home schedule with a hard-fought 1-0 defeat to #9 regionally ranked Muhlenberg College.

The Colonels opened the match with some quick play and created some dangerous opportunities that they were unable to capitalize on.  The Colonels defense held solid until the 32nd minute when a turnover deep in Wilkes zone led to a quick counter that the Mules were able to capitalize on.  Jack Dusing beat a defender to the end line and served a ball to the top of the six-yard box where Lance Dotzman was able to slot Wilkes goalkeeper Patrick Loube (Boyertown, PA/Boyertown)

The second half saw Wilkes trying to quickly counter the Mules as they were able to get in behind the defense a few times, but were unsuccessful in scoring on any of their chances.

Loube making his first start of the year made five saves in goal for the Colonels.

The Colonels look to get back on track when they host Stevenson University at Schmidt Stadium on Saturday; scheduled kickoff is 4:00 P.M.
