WILKES MEN'S TENNIS CAPTURES FOUR SINGLES, TWO DOUBLES TITLES AT MUHLENBERG FALL CLASSIC


ALLENTOWN, PA – The Wilkes University men's tennis team opened its 2013 fall campaign in fine fashion capturing four singles flights and two doubles titles at the Muhlenberg College Fall Classic head at the Kern Field Courts and Cedar Crest on Sunday.

Max Appello (Sparta, NJ/Sparta) grabbed the No. 3 singles crown with an 8-2 win over Neil Shulman of Muhlenberg in the finals. Alex Makos (Mansfield, PA/Mansfield), playing at No. 4, took an 8-2 decision over King's Jake Rohring in the finals on way to the title. Connor Peckham (Warminster, PA/Central Bucks East) (No. 5) and Adam Lefkandinos (Toms River, NJ/Toms River North) (No. 6) each claimed singles titles with scores of 8-4 and 4-2 respectively.

In doubles competition, the duo of Dominic and Jacob Parfianowicz (Elmira, NY/Elmira Free Academy) cruised to an 8-3 victory at No. 2 while Michael Kranz (Depew, NY/Lancaster Central) and Brendon Blachowski (Newtown, PA /Council Rock North) teamed at the No. 3 position to win the finals 8-4.

Wilkes will continue its fall slate Saturday hosting the University of Scranton at 10:30 a.m. and Lycoming College at 3:30 p.m. at the Ralston Athletic Complex.
