In their last outing the Colonel men (7-10 overall, 2-5 Freedom) picked up a crucial 71-70 home court win over Eastern that keeps them in the playoff mix as they sit two games out of the fourth and final tournament spot. Alec Wizar (Lebanon, PA/Annville Cleona) led the Colonels to victory over the Eagles as he scored 25 points, nailing three-pointers. The Eagles had a chance to win the game on a last second shot but the ball caromed off the rim as the buzzer sounded.

Wizar continues to lead the team averaging 13.8 points per-game and is second in the league with 49 made three-pointers. Pat Furst (Jamison, PA/Central Bucks West) came off the bench to score 14 points against Eastern as he continues to comeback from an injury that has been hampering his time on the court. Despite the missed playing time Furst is second on the team in points (12.3) and rebounds (5.3). Steve Stravinski (Pittston, PA/Pittston) is the third Colonel to average double-figure scoring averaging 10.1 points per-game and pulling down 4.9 rebounds a game.  Stravinski's 39 three-pointers made are good for sixth best in the Freedom Conference. Big men Nic Wilkins (Dushore, PA/Sullivan County) and Brendan Sheldon (Milford, PA/Delaware Valley) continue to get it done on the glass; Wilkins is averaging 5.4 rebounds a game while Sheldon picks up 5.0 a game.

The Delaware Valley men (10-8 overall, 5-2 Freedom) remain in second place in the Conference after going on the road and handling FDU-Florham 73-57 on Wednesday evening. The Aggies are led by their guard play and rely heavily on the three-point shot. They have taken a league-leading 418 threes on the season making 173 for a 41.4 percent shooting percentage from deep.

Four Aggies have made 25 or more treys on the season. Francis Arnold leads the squad with 16.9 points, 4.1 rebounds and 4.4 assists per-game. Nick Sullivan scores 12.8 points per-game and is fourth in the league with 45 three-pointers made. Jay Donovan shoots 48.9 percent from deep and is third in the league with 45 made threes. Donovan averages 12.2 points and grabs 3.3 boards per-game. Big man Chris Moran is scoring 11.7 points and pulling down 8.2 rebounds per-game.

In the teams' first matchup this season in Wilkes-Barre, Delaware Valley defeated Wilkes 62-58 at the Marts Center. The Colonels trailed by nine in the second half, were able to cut the lead to one, but eventually fell by four points.  The Colonels missed sixteen costly foul shots in the contest.

The Lady Colonels (4-13 overall, 1-6 Freedom) are looking to snap a two-game skid and revenge their 59-52 loss to the Aggies earlier this year. The Lady Colonels fought hard in the first game against Delaware Valley tying the game late before Delaware Valley went on an 11-2 run that extended their lead to nine with 1:50 to play.

Elena Stambone (Jessup, PA/Valley View) continues to lead the league in scoring averaging 20.0 points per-game. Chelsea Brown (Garnet Valley, PA/Garnet Valley) fills the stat sheet averaging 12.1 points and 9.6 rebounds a game. She adds 39 steals and 32 blocks on the defensive end of the court.

Ellen Rich (Hamden, CT/Hamden Hall) is establishing herself in the low post as she grabs 7.1 boards and 4.7 points per-game.  Rich has 49 blocks on the season which leads the Freedom Conference. Chelsea Smelas (Jim Thorpe, PA/Jim Thorpe) brings a high intensity and spark to the team when she is on the court. Smelas is averaging 4.2 points and 5.0 rebounds per-game

The Delaware Valley women (11-7 overall, 4-3 Freedom) look for their first win in two games Saturday against the Lady Colonels. Eireann Anastasi is a filling the stat sheet leading the Aggies in scoring (15.6 ppg) and steals (47). Anastasi also grabs 4.1 rebounds and dishes out 3.2 assists per-game.

Brenna Coll is second on the team in scoring averaging 15.3 points and a team-best 7.2 boards per-game.  Brittany Wood averages double-figures scoring 10.4 points and grabs 5.2 caroms a game. The Aggies average 67.9 points on offense and allow their opponents to score 66.5 per-game. Delaware Valley shoots 71.3 percent from the foul line which could be helpful in a tight game with Wilkes.
