WILKES CROSS COUNTRY TEAMS COMPETE AT MT. SAINT MARY'S INVITATIONAL; MEN FINISH 5^TH, WOMEN 6^TH

NEWBURGH, NY – The Wilkes University men's and women's cross country teams competed at the Mount Saint Mary's Invitational Saturday afternoon. The Colonel men finished in fifth place of 16 teams while the Lady Colonels claimed sixth place of 20 teams.

The 8k men's race featured 141 runners as Wilkes totaled 114 points. Jordan Lindley (Hunlock Creek, PA/Lake Lehman) led the group with a time of 30:27 for 15th place. Tyler Sutton (Wyalusing, PA/Wyalusing Valley) finished second with a time of 30:34 for 17^th place. Tim Jurkowski (Honesdale, PA/Honesdale) followed at 30:36 in 18^th place. Martin Tolbert (York, PA/William Penn) finished at 31:16 for 32^nd place while Dan Lykens crossed the line at 31:23 for 34^th place.

Tyler Layton (Endicott, NY/Main Endwell) (31:50/47^th place) and Brian McKenna (Hillsdale, NJ/Pascack Valley) (31:50/48^th place) rounded out the Wilkes scorers in the event.

The 5k women's race featured 178 runners as Wilkes totaled 166 points, two points back of fifth place Sage College. Cassie Papp led the Lady Colonel finishers with a time of 22:03 for 19^th place. Christine Klingel (Kunkletown, PA/Pleasant Valley) followed at 22:37 for 27^th place while Regan Murphy (Plainfield, PA/Pen Argyl) crossed the line at 22:44 for 31^st place.

Rachel Quinn (Goshen, NY/Goshen) came in at 23:10 for 40^th place. Tracey Hilker (Hummelstown, PA/Lower Dauphin) (23:29/51^st), Moriah Teed (Newark Valley, NY/Newark Valley) (24:13/66^th) and Alexis Nicholson (Allentown, PA/Allentown Central Catholic) (24:20/70^th) rounded out the Lady Colonel scorers in the event.

Both teams are back in action next Saturday competing in the Bloomsburg Invitational at 11:00 a.m.
