WILKES BASKETBALL TEAMS HOST DESALES TUESDAY IN FREEDOM DOUBLEHEADER
 
WILKES-BARRE- The Wilkes University men's and women's basketball teams will face the DeSales University Bulldogs in a Freedom Conference doubleheader on Tuesday night in their second to last game of the season.
 
The women's team will tip off at 6:00 p.m., followed by the men's game at 8:00 p.m.

With two games remaining, the men's team (8-14 overall, 3-9 Freedom) will host the Bulldogs (15-8 overall, 9-3 Freedom) at home. DeSales sits at first place in the Freedom Conference and is perfect in the month of February (5-0).
 
Alec Wizar (Lebanon, PA/Annville Cleona) leads the trio of double-digit scorers for the Colonels with 12.7 points per-game. Nic Wilkins (Dushore, PA/Sullivan County) enters the game fresh off of a 23-point, seven-rebound, and three-steal performance against Eastern University. Wilkins averages 9.2 points-per game this season. Steve Stravinski (Pittston, PA/Pittston) averages 12.1 points per-game and Pat Furst (Jamison, PA/Central Bucks West) averages 11.2 points on 53.2 percent shooting. Stravinski and Wizar are the top three-point shooters for the Colonels, making 57 and 58 respectively this season. In their last matchup earlier this season, DeSales edged out Wilkes to take the victory 75-71. Furst (16), Wilkins (14), Hinkel (13), and Wizar (12) led the Colonels in scoring with double-digits.
 
For the DeSales Bulldogs, Mike Coleman leads his team with 15.5 points per-game and is 89-for-187 from the field this season (47.6 percent). Kyle Hash enters the matchup averaging 12.7 points per-game on 82-for-167 from the field this year and has a team-high 115 rebounds, 52 assist, and 22 steals. Cody Deal (9.5) and Paul Pammer (9.4) round out the Bulldogs attack.
 
The Lady Colonels (5-18 overall, 2-10 Freedom) look to snap a four-game losing streak and also claim their first home victory as they face the (18-5 overall, 8-4 Freedom) DeSales women's team.
 
Elena Stambone (Jessup, PA/Valley View) enters the game as the leading scorer for Wilkes and continues to lead the entire Freedom Conference. Stambone has a team-high 54 three-pointers this season with 34 assists and 28 steals to date. Chelsea Brown (Garnet Valley, PA/Garnet Valley) leads the squad in steals (46), assists (40), and 211 rebounds this year (9.2 per-game).
 
Brown is shooting 35.0 percent from the field for 11.4 points-per game. Ellen Rich (Hamden, CT/Hamden Hall) and Chelsea Smelas (Jim Thorpe, PA/Jim Thorpe) are both averaging 4.4 points-per game this season. Rich also adds a team-best 61 blocks and has 177 rebounds.
 
DeSales has three women in double-digits this year. Sondrine Glovas is the high-scorer with 17.9 points-per game with a team-best 71 steals and 47 converted shots from deep. Alexiah Grant comes into the game averaging 13.6 points, while Colleen Gavin averages 10.7 points for DeSales. Gavin leads the Bulldogs with 178 rebounds, with Glovas (170), Megan Gallagher (163), Grant (130), and Brittany Pierzga (101) all grabbing 100+ rebounds this year.
 
DeSales took a 66-45 victory earlier this season in Center Valley, Pa.
