Wilkes and Misericordia play for the second time this season Wednesday in a Freedom Conference doubleheader in Dallas, Pa. Tip-off for the women's game is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. with the men to follow at 8:00 p.m. A decision for the game will be made by 12:00 p.m. Wednesday in regards to the predicted snowstorm. Wilkes defeated Misericordia in early December 72-70 in overtime at the Marts Center. Misericordia had a chance to win the game with 0.3 remaining on the clock in regulation with a pair of free throws, but were unable to convert them as the game went into overtime where Wilkes prevailed. Wilkes enters with three players averaging double-figures on offense: Alec Wizar (Lebanon, PA/Annville Cleona) (13.3), Pat Furst (Jamison, PA/Central Bucks West) (11.6) and Steve Stravinski (Pittston, PA/Pittston) (10.2). Wizar is second in the Freedom Conference with 49 made three-pointers, Furst is second on the team in rebounding 5.2 boards per-game and Stravinski is tied for sixth in the league with 42 three-pointers made. The Colonels offense is averaging 68.0 points per-game, while their defense is letting opponents score 69.4 points per-game. The Misericordia men (11-8 overall, 5-3 Freedom) are in a four-way tie for second place in the Freedom Conference after having their six-game winning streak snapped at home against FDU-Florham on Saturday. After losing their first two Freedom games the Cougars have gone 5-1 and are 6-2 at their friendly confines. The Cougars offense features three players scoring in double figures: Steve Ware (13.2), Matt Greene (12.4) and Joe Busacca (11.6). Ware is averaging 6.8 caroms per-game, while Greene leads the league in three-pointers made with 57 and is 47-for-50 (94percent) from the charity stripe. The Cougars boast an offense that averages 67.4 points, while their defense holds opponents to 66.3 per-game. The Lady Colonels (4-14 overall, 1-7 Freedom) are looking to snap a three game slide in their re-match with the Cougars. In the first meeting between the teams, Wilkes made a furious second half run but the Cougars sank foul shots late posting a 66-56 win in the Marts Center. Elena Stambone (Jessup, PA/Valley View) continues to lead the league in scoring pouring in 19.2 points per-game. Chelsea Brown (Garnet Valley, PA/Garnet Valley) continues to put up strong statistics as she is averaging 12.1 points and 9.4 rebounds per-game. Brown is first on the team with 41 steals and second in blocks with 33. Ellen Rich (Hamden, CT/Hamden Hall) adds 6.9 rebounds per-game and leads the team with 50 swatted shots. Ginny Edwards (Warrington, PA/Central Bucks South) is also getting the job done on the glass as she tied with Rich in pulling down 6.9 rebounds per-game. The Lady Colonels are being held to 54.8 points-per-game while they are allowing their opponents to score 62.6 per-game. The Misericordia women (7-11 overall, 3-5 Freedom) enter losers of their past two games and remain two games out of the fourth and final spot in the Freedom Conference playoff race. The Cougars are led by four players averaging double-figures on offense: Hannah Seely (16.1), Lauren Smicherko (12.8), Sam Baro (11.4) and Justine Seely (10.5). Justine Seely leads the team with 8.6 rebounds a game while her sister Hannah Seely is second pulling down 7.2 boards per-game.
