WILKES WOMEN'S LACROSSE MOVES TO 3-0 WITH 18-8 VICTORY OVER RUTGERS-CAMDEN
 
CAMDEN, NJ – Tori Kerr (Beacon, NY/Beacon) and Madeleine Brownsey (Glenside, PA/St. Basil Academy) combined for ten of Wilkes' 18 goals in the Lady Colonels 18-8 non-conference victory over Rutgers-Camden Monday afternoon from RUC Community Park.
 
Wilkes remains unbeaten at 3-0 following the win. Rutgers-Camden suffered its first defeat of the year standing 1-2 on the young season.
 
It was all Wilkes early and often as the Lady Colonels scored eight unanswered goals to start the contest. Brownsey was key in the spurt accounting for four of her five strikes in the first ten minutes.
 
After Rutgers-Camden scored back-to-back goals  midway through the half, the Lady Colonels responded with another furious rally scoring six more times to end the frame up 14-2. Gabby Ford (Elmont, NY/Sewanhaka), Carley Smith (York, PA/Dallastown), Melanie Rivera (Middletown, NY/Middletown), Kerr and Brownsey accounted for the goals to reach the half.
 
Kerr opened the second half with a goal off an assist from Smith at the 27:50 mark to extend the lead to 15-2.From there, Ford and Kerr added back-to-back strikes pushing the lead to 17-2 with just over twenty-three minutes remaining.
 
Ally Bicskei (Vernon, NJ/Vernon Township) finished off the Wilkes scoring tear with an unassisted tally at the 19:00 mark as the lead ballooned to 18-3.
 
Brownsey finished with five goals and one helper while Kerr added five goals on seven shots. Smith chipped in two goals and a team-high six assists, while Ford contributed four goals and two helpers including 1-for-1 on free position shots.
 
Morgan Galluzzo (New London, NH/Kearsarge Regional) made four saves in net for Wilkes improving her record to 3-0 on the year.
 
Cecilia Gross led Rutgers-Camden with four goals while Brigette Forte followed with two goals. Michelle Boyd recorded the loss in goal finishing with two saves on 18 shots faced.
 
Wilkes next hosts SUNY Canton Thursday at 4:00 p.m. at Schmidt Stadium.
