WILKES WOMEN'S TENNIS PUSHES PAST ELIZABETHTOWN 5-4

EDWARDSVILLE – The Wilkes University women's tennis team used a No. 6 singles win to clinch a 5-4 victory over visiting Elizabethtown College in a matchup of regionally ranked teams Thursday afternoon at the Ralston Athletic Complex.

Wilkes improves to 8-1 on the year following the win.

The Lady Colonels took a 2-1 lead after doubles play thanks to wins from Ally Kristofco (Hollidaysburg, PA/Bishop Guilfoyle)/Anastasia English (Columbia, MD/Wilde Lake) at No. 1 and Kendra Croker (Old Forge, PA/Scranton Prep)/Taylor Hoffman at No. 2.

Kristofco pushed the Wilkes advantage ahead with a 6-2, 6-4 decision at No. 1 singles. Following Elizabethtown wins at No. 2, 4 and 5, Wilkes' Taylor Hoffman scored a 6-1, 6-4 victory at No. 3 to tie the match at 4-4 with one singles match still remaining.

Madison Salmon (Endicott, NY/Union Endicott) then clinched the victory for Wilkes posting a 7-5, 6-3 win at No. 6 singles.

Wilkes returns to the courts Monday traveling to Arcadia University at 3:30 p.m.
