WILKES BASEBALL FALLS 4-2 AGAINST JOHNSON AND WALES IN SPRING BREAK FINALE
 
MYRTLE BEACH, SC – The Wilkes University baseball team opened a 1-0 lead early, but a three-run fourth helped propel Johnson and Wales to a 4-2 victory over the Colonels on the final day of its spring break trip Friday afternoon.
 
Wilkes finishes 3-4 on its annual spring break trip. Johnson and Wales improves to 4-0 on the year following the victory.
 
Dan Pisanchyn (Clarks Summit, PA/Abington Heights) homered to give the Colonels a 1-0 lead after its bats in the fourth. Johnson and Wales responded with three runs in the bottom half of the frame to take a two-run lead.
 
Tom Ring (Massapequa Park, NY/St. John the Baptist) added an RBI groundout scoring Bobby Schappell (Pottsville, PA/Pottsville) in the fifth to cut the deficit to 3-2. In the sixth, Rob Bocchetti singled home an insurance run for Johnson and Wales and the bullpen did its job to secure the advantage over the final three frames.
 
Schappell, Pisanchyn and Matthew Reese (Wellsboro, PA/Wellsboro) each posted two hits in the loss for Wilkes.
 
Patrick Condo (Dallas, PA/Holy Redeemer) suffered the loss on the mound starting and going five and a third allowing four hits while striking out seven. Quinn Kelly (Collegeville, PA/Perkiomen Valley) and Forrest Jordan (Sullivan County, PA/Sullivan County) combined to pitch a scoreless final three innings in relief.
 
Wilkes begins Freedom Conference play Friday hosting Eastern University at 3:30 p.m.
