Wilkes falls to 8-8 overall and 3-4 in Freedom Conference games following the defeat. After Delaware Valley built a 2-0 lead using a solo home run and Wilkes error in centerfield, Matthew Reese (Wellsboro, PA/Wellsboro) connected on an RBI groundout to cut the advantage in half in the top of the third. An RBI triple and double upped the Aggies lead to 4-1 heading into the top of the ninth. In the Wilkes ninth, Ryan Herbst (East Islip, NY/St. John the Baptist) singled home James Brown (Covington, PA/North Pocono) to bring the Colonels to within two. Two batters later Bobby O'Keefe (Bethpage, NY/Bethpage) drew a bases loaded walk as Wilkes trailed 4-3. After a Delaware Valley pitching change, a Reese fly out with two-outs ended the Wilkes rally with three runners still on base. Brown and Herbst each posted two hits in the loss to lead the Wilkes offensive attack (seven hits). Patrick Condo (Dallas, PA/Holy Redeemer) went three innings suffering the loss on the mound allowing two runs on four hits. Mike Kearney picked up the win for the Aggies pitching five innings allowing one run on three hits. Trevor Dalton recorded the save in the ninth. Wilkes returns to Freedom play Friday playing at cross-town rival King's College in the first game of a three-game set.
