WILKES MEN'S AND WOMEN'S TENNIS CONCLUDES REGULAR SEASON WITH SWEEP AT BLOOMSBURG

BLOOMSBURG, PA – The Wilkes University men's and women's tennis teams concluded their 2014 spring campaigns sweeping Division II Bloomsburg University by scores for 7-2 and 5-4 respectively.

The Colonel men improve to 16-1 while the Lady Colonels move to 16-2 on the year.

The Wilkes men went 6-0 in singles flights to start the match, with five of six coming in straight sets, before the team of Brendon Blachowski (Newtown, PA /Council Rock North) and Michael Kranz (Depew, NY/Lancaster Central) scored an 8-1 win at No. 3 doubles to seal the 7-2 victory.

The Wilkes women were down 3-0 after doubles before the Lady Colonels answered back in singles play. Taylor Hoffman, Anastasia English (Columbia, MD/Wilde Lake), Amanda Rossi (Fogelsville, PA/Parkland) and Madison Salmon (Endicott, NY/Union Endicott) all recorded wins before Kendra Croker (Old Forge, PA/Scranton Prep) clinched the match at No. 2 with a 7-6, 5-7, 6-4 decision.

Both teams have locked the top seeds in this week's Freedom Conference Tournament as the men will host the fourth seed Wednesday and the women on Tuesday.
