Wilkes now stands at 14-21 on the season while PSU-Harrisburg sees their record increase to 8-27.The Colonels scored two runs in the bottom of the 2nd to take an early 2-0 lead in game one. Bobby Schappell (Pottsville, PA/Pottsville) singled up the middle plating Alex Kramer (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill East) and Joshua Slocum (Clarks Summit, PA/Abington Heights). PSU Harrisburg responded in the top of the 3rd as they put three runs up on the board. John Cataldo hit a sacrifice fly to right scoring Jim Quinn on the play. Eric Hoover singled through the middle plating Jim Murphy with the second run of the inning. A Wilkes error prolonged the inning and the Colonels paid for the miscue as PSU's Troy Taber laced a single to center scoring Colton Houseal with the third and final run of the inning. PSU-Harrisburg put the game away in the top of the 5th when they put four runs up on the board giving them an 8-3 lead. Wilkes was once again bitten by the error bug as a slow roller to first was mishandled with two out allowing PSU-Harrisburg to extend the inning. Quinn hammered a pitch down the left field line and over the blue monster for a three-run home run.Will Chanley went the distance on the hill for PSU-Harrisburg allowing eight hits and three runs (two earned) in winning his fourth game of the season. Slocum, Bobby O'Keefe (Bethpage, NY/Bethpage) and Tanner Smith (Upper Black Eddy, PA/Palisades) all collected two hits for the Colonels. Steve Ruch took the loss for the Navy and Gold. Ruch allowed seven hits and eight runs in which only three were earned over five innings.In game two Wilkes once again took an early lead when Schappell scored on a Dan Pisanchyn (Clarks Summit, PA/Abington Heights) base hit to center in the bottom of the 1st. PSU Harrisburg tied the game in the top of the 2nd when Bryan Balshy ripped a double down the line scoring Travis Crammer on the play. Wilkes responded with a pair of runs in the bottom half of the 2nd thanks to some sloppy defense from PSU. Smith hit a RBI double scoring O'Keefe on the play. Johnny Jan Jr. (Germantown, MD/Northwest) hit a RBI groundout to second allowing Zak Berg (Mountain Top, PA/Crestwood) to score putting the Colonels up 3-1. PSU tied the game in the top of the fourth, Cataldo hit a RBI single through the left side and Logan Hall hit a sac fly to right scoring Cataldo with the tying run. In the bottom of the 6th A.J. Mihaly (Berwick, PA/Berwick Area) smacked a leadoff double just inside the third base bag. Kevin Klatt (Dunmore, PA/Dunmore) pinch ran for Mihaly and advanced to third on a well-placed Berg sacrifice bunt. The Colonels caught a break when PSU's starting pitcher Tom Chaney balked on the mound allowing Klatt to score the game winning run.Patrick Condo (Dallas, PA/Holy Redeemer) pitched six innings allowing six hits and three runs while striking out three for the Navy and Gold. Matt Kaster (Traben-Trabach, Germany/Crestwood) notched his fifth save of the season. Pisanchyn picked up two of the Colonels four hits with Mihaly and Smith picking up the other hits in game two. Eric Hoover went 3-for-4 for PSU.Wilkes heads to the road on Tuesday for a non-conference game against the University of Scranton.
