Wilkes falls to 9-11 overall following the defeat while Susquehanna improves to 17-6 on the season after the non-league win. After Susquehanna scored three runs in the top of the second, Wilkes responded with two runs in the bottom half of the frame. Tyler Marino (Wilkes-Barre, PA/Meyers) grounded out to first scoring Dan Pisanchyn (Clarks Summit, PA/Abington Heights) on the play. Marcus Leaf (Reading, PA/Berks Catholic) then reached on a fielder's choice scoring James Brown (Covington, PA/North Pocono). The Colonels took their first lead of the game in the sixth after tying the game in the fifth thanks to a sacrifice flyout from Matthew Reese (Wellsboro, PA/Wellsboro). Ryan Herbst (East Islip, NY/St. John the Baptist) provided the RBI groundout in the sixth to give Wilkes a 4-3 lead. From there, the Crusaders scored seven runs in the seventh to take back the advantage for good. Two straight hit-by-pitches scored two runs with the bases loaded. An RBI single and subsequent two-run double pushed the lead to 9-4. Susquehanna capped the rally with another RBI single to lead 10-4 after seven. Wilkes made things interesting in the ninth as Stephen Ruch (Dallas, PA/Holy Redeemer) doubled home Johnny Jan Jr. (Germantown, MD/Northwest) and Joshua Slocum (Clarks Summit, PA/Abington Heights) and Tyler Marino (Wilkes-Barre, PA/Meyers) added back-to-back RBI singles to cut the lead to 11-8. A pop out to first base ended the rally with two runners on and the tying run at the plate. Marino, Johnny Jan Jr. (Germantown, MD/Northwest) and James Brown (Covington, PA/North Pocono) each finished with two hits to lead the Wilkes offense. Tom Ring (Massapequa Park, NY/St. John the Baptist) suffered the loss on the mound allowing four runs on two hits in a relief effort. Eric Soranno picked up the win for Susquehanna going 2.1 innings allowing one run on one hit.
