WILKES WOMEN'S TENNIS CONCLUDES SEASON IN SECOND ROUND OF NCAA TOURNAMENT

BRUNSWICK, ME -- The Wilkes University women's tennis team concluded its season with a 5-0 loss against host Bowdoin College in the second round of the NCAA Division III Tournament Saturday at Foreside Tennis Club.

The Polar Bears (15-6) advance to Sunday's regional final against the winner of Saturday's second match between Middlebury and The College of New Jersey. The regional final will be played at noon Sunday. Wilkes finishes a fantastic season with a record of 19-3.

Bowdoin lost just two games en route to a 3-0 lead after doubles play. The Polar Bears claimed an 8-1 win at No. 3 and were followed quickly by an 8-1 triumph at No. 2. Bowdoin capped the sweep with a 8-0 victory at No. 1.

In singles action, Bowdoin posted a pair of quick wins to seal the match.
