WILKES TENNIS TEAMS LOOKING FOR FREEDOM TITLES SATURDAY

EDWARDSVILLE – The Wilkes University tennis teams are back to their normal ways this time of year. Both teams are hosting the Freedom Conference finals for a seventh and eighth consecutive year Saturday.

The Wilkes women will host second seed King's College at 1:00 p.m. while the men will face the winner of King's and FDU-Florham at 10:00 a.m. Both matches are scheduled at the Ralston Athletic Complex.

The Lady Colonels enter the finals with a 17-2 overall record after posting a 5-0 sweep of fourth seeded Eastern University on Thursday in the semifinal round. Earlier this season, Wilkes took a 9-0 decision over the Lady Monarchs in regular season play. Wilkes is looking for its eighth straight Freedom crown, dating back to the 2007 season.

The Wilkes men come into the finals with a 17-1 overall mark after posting a 6-0 victory over fourth seeded Stevenson University on Thursday in the semifinals. Wilkes claimed 9-0 wins over King's and FDU-Florham earlier this season. The Colonels are looking for their seventh straight Freedom title, dating back to the 2008 season.

Should both teams win, they would receive automatic bids to the NCAA Championship Tournament scheduled for later next week.
