Pairings for the 50-team national tournament were announced late Monday afternoon. The Colonels (18-1) will face Mary Washington (20-5) in second round action Saturday, May 10that 12:30 p.m. In the top half of Wilkes' bracket, the winner of Baruch and Neumann will face Johns Hopkins. Winner of that match faces the winner of Wilkes and Mary Washington in the third round on Sunrday. Wilkes is fresh off winning its seventh straight Freedom Conference title after posting a 5-1 victory over King's College on Saturday. Steven Wilson (Bronx, NY/JFK) holds down the No. 1 singles position for Wilkes with a 21-5 record while Max Appello (Sparta, NJ/Sparta) stands 20-5 at No. 2. The back of the Colonel lineup may be the deepest in recent years as Adam Lefkandinos (Toms River, NJ/Toms River North) and Freedom Tournament MVP Brendon Blachowski (Newtown, PA /Council Rock North) combine to go 39-6 at No. 5 and 6 singles. Mary Washington enters the tournament ranked No. 16 in the latest ITA national poll claiming the program's 15th straight Capital Athletic Conference championship with a 7-2 victory over Salisbury. The Eagles feature three singles players with 20 wins on the year in Brandon Griffin, Stratton Gilmore and David Lunding-Johansson.
