Pairings for the 50-team national tournament were announced late Monday afternoon. Wilkes (18-2) will face Bridgewater State (16-1) in first round action Friday, May 9th at 11:00 a.m. at Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine. The winner of the match will advance to face host Bowdoin on Saturday. Wilkes is fresh off winning its eighth straight Freedom Conference title after posting a 5-0 victory over King's College on Saturday. Ally Kristofco (Hollidaysburg, PA/Bishop Guilfoyle) leads the list of Lady Colonel singles players with a 15-5 mark at No. 1. Kendra Croker (Old Forge, PA/Scranton Prep) stands 16-4 at No. 2 while Freedom Tournament MVP Anastasia English (Columbia, MD/Wilde Lake) owns a 17-2 mark at No. 4. Bridgewater State earned the automatic qualification into the NCAAs by virtue of winning the Little East Conference Tournament this past fall. The Bears have captured four Little East Tournament titles since 2007 and three over last four years. The Bears are led by senior top flight singles and doubles player Jenna Williamson. Williamson, the three-time Little East Player of the Year and one of six Bears named to the All-Little East Team, paced the Bridgewater State lineup with an overall record of 13-3, including an 8-0 mark against conference competition.Print Friendly Version
