WILKES WOMEN'S TENNIS SPLITS TWO MATCHES ON SUNDAY

SCRANTON, PA – The Wilkes women's tennis team split a pair of non-conference matches Saturday afternoon in a trip to the Electric City. Wilkes fell 5-4 against Scranton before posting a 9-0 victory over Keystone later in the day.

Wilkes sees its overall mark move to 3-1 following the day of matches.

In the loss against Scranton, Wilkes led 2-1 after doubles play thanks to wins from Anastasia English (Columbia, MD/Wilde Lake) and Taylor Hoffmann (Huntingdon Valley, PA/Lower Moreland) at No. 2 (9-7) and Olivia Hewison (Port Crane, NY/Chenango Valley) and Madison Salmon (Endicott, NY/Union Endicott) at No. 3 (8-6).

After wins at No. 6 and No. 4 singles gave Wilkes a 4-1 lead, Scranton claimed the final four flights to steal the victory.

In its second match of the day, Wilke wasted little time posting the 9-0 victory over Keystone sweeping all three doubles flights before winning all six singles matches in straight sets.

Wilkes remains idle until September 27 and 28 when the lady Colonels compete in the Bloomsburg University Tournament.
