Wilkes Men's Tennis Goes 2-0 in Dual Match Doubleheader

EDWARDSVILLE – The Wilkes University men's tennis team recorded a pair of 9-0 victories over visiting Scranton and Marywood University Sunday afternoon at the Ralston Athletic Complex.

Wilkes moves to 6-0 on the fall season following the pair of straight set wins.

In the match against the Royals, the Colonels stormed out to a 3-0 lead in doubles play and never looked back. Singles wins from Courtney Murphy (Bronx, NY/Christopher Columbus), Max Appello (Sparta, NJ/Sparta), Adam Lefkandinos (Toms River, NJ/Toms River North), Dominic Parfianowicz (Elmira, NY/Elmira Free Academy), Troy Haas (Huntington Station, NY/Walt Whitman) and Michael Kranz (Depew, NY/Lancaster Central) clinched the non-conference match win for Wilkes.

Artyom Nabokin (Danvers, MA/Danvers) and Troy Haas (Huntington Station, NY/Walt Whitman) recorded the lone singles victories for Wilkes against Marywood where four singles matches and two double matches were won by default.

Wilkes remains idle until October 17 and 18 when the Colonels play co-host to the Middle Atlantic Conference Individual Championships at the Ralston Athletic Complex and Kirby Park.
