Steve Finkernagel Baseball 3/5/2015 6:31:00 PM Wilkes Baseball Splits Pair of Games against LVC Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Wilkes Baseball Splits Pair of Games against LVC FORT PIERCE, FL – The Wilkes University baseball team split a pair of games against Commonwealth Conference foe Lebanon Valley College Thursday afternoon. The Colonels recorded a 5-2 win in game one before dropping a 4-2 decision in the second half of the twin bill. Wilkes moves to 3-4 overall on the year following the Thursday's games. Game one saw Wilkes score on a pass ball in the third before exploding for four runs in the fifth to put the game out of reach. Two sacrifice flies, one from James Brown (Covington, PA/North Pocono) and the other from Dan Pisanchyn (Clarks Summit, PA/Abington Heights), along with RBI singles from Matthew Reese (Wellsboro, PA/Wellsboro) and Joshua Slocum (Clarks Summit, PA/Abington Heights) capped the scoring for the Colonels in the deciding inning. Quinn Kelly (Collegeville, PA/Perkiomen Valley) went 5.2 strong innings in the start to receive the win, his second on the season. Kelly allowed just four hits and one earned run while striking out seven batters. Matt Kaster (Traben-Trabach, Germany/Crestwood) pitched a scoreless seventh to record his second save of the season. Lebanon Valley jumped out to a 4-0 lead in game two and held on late despite two runs from the Colonels in the fifth and sixth. Zac Berg added an RBI single in the fifth and Tom Ring (Massapequa Park, NY/St. John the Baptist) an RBI single in the sixth to settle the Wilkes scoring in the contest. Stephen Ruch (Dallas, PA/Holy Redeemer) suffered the loss on the hill going 2.2 innings allowing four hits and four runs (one earned). Forrest Jordan (Sullivan County, PA/Sullivan County), Marcus Leaf (Reading, PA/Berks Catholic) and Jeff Roedell (Perkasie, PA/Pennridge) all pitched in relief.
