Wilkes Men's Tennis Splits Pair of Matches with Mount Union, Findlay

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, SC – The Wilkes University men's tennis team split a pair of matches on Wednesday on day three of its spring break trip in Hilton Head Island.

The Colonels swept Mount Union 9-0 before falling to Division II Findlay 5-1 in its nightcap.

Wilkes stands 5-1 overall following the day's matches.

Wilkes took all three doubles matches to start in the sweep of Mount Union, before claiming all six singles flights. Max Appello (Sparta, NJ/Sparta), Brendon Blachowski (Newtown, PA /Council Rock North), Dominic Parfianowicz (Elmira, NY/Elmira Free Academy), Artyom Nabokin (Danvers, MA/Danvers), Andrew Neidig (Matamoras, PA/Delaware Valley) and Brian Murray (Brooklyn, NY/Leon M. Goldstein) captured Colonel singles wins.

In the loss against Division II Findlay, who entered the match ranked tenth in the region, Steven Wilson (Bronx, NY/JFK) and Blachowski teamed at No. 3 doubles to record an 8-6 victory for Wilkes lone win.

Wilkes concludes its spring break trip Thursday playing two matches against St. John Fisher at 8:30 a.m. and Roanoke College at 3:00 p.m.
