Wilkes Tennis Teams Learn NCAA Pairings
 
WILKES-BARRE – The Wilkes University men's and women's tennis teams learned its opponents in the upcoming NCAA Tennis Championships as the brackets were announced Monday afternoon.
 
The Colonel men will face Grove City College on Thursday at a time to be announced at the host site Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, Virginia. The Wilkes women will take on The College of New Jersey (TCNJ) on Friday at a time to be announced at the host site Amherst College in Amherst, Massachusetts.
 
The Wilkes men enter the NCAA tournament with a 19-2 overall mark and winners of nine straight matches including capturing its eighth straight Freedom title on Saturday to earn the automatic win. Grove City (7-6) earned the automatic berth after winning its 25th consecutive Presidents' Athletic Conference crown in late April.
 
The Wilkes women enter the tournament with an 18-1 overall record after winning its ninth straight Freedom championship on Saturday. The Lady Colonels have won sixteen straight matches dating back to the fall. TCNJ owns a 14-1 overall record entering the tournament after capturing its 32nd straight New Jersey Athletic Conference title to earn its automatic bid.
 
The teams will play a single-elimination tournament with the first-, second- and third-rounds played at regional sites. Ohio Northern University and the Warren County Convention and Visitors Bureau will host the team championships finals, which will be held May 18-20 at Lindner Family Tennis Center in Mason, Ohio. Student-athletes selected to the individual championships will be announced Wednesday, May 6.
