Steve Finkernagel Men's Tennis 9/20/2015 8:00:00 PM Wilkes Men’s Tennis Concludes Play at Bloomsburg Open Wilkes Men's Tennis Concludes Play at Bloomsburg Open BLOOMSBURG, PA -- The Wilkes University men's tennis team concluded play at the Bloomsburg University Invitational Sunday afternoon. The Colonels played the final two rounds of the six-round event in both singles and doubles competition on Sunday. In round one of singles play, Dominic Parfianowicz (Elmira, NY/Elmira Free Academy) was the lone Colonels winner taking his match over Bloomsburg's Jean Paul Jones 3-6, 6-3, 10-6. Round two singles saw wins from Courtney Murphy (Bronx, NY/Christopher Columbus), Andrew Neidig (Matamoras, PA/Delaware Valley) and Jonathan White (Saylorsburg, PA/Pleasant Valley). Murphy took his match 7-5, 7-5 while Neidig went 6-2, 6-3 and White 6-1, 6-3 over opponents from Kutztown. Murphy and Murray took home two more wins in singles play in round five while Troy Haas (Huntington Station, NY/Walt Whitman) and Adam Lefkandinos (Toms River, NJ/Toms River North) each posted straight set wins for the Colonels in the round. Brian Murray (Brooklyn, NY/Leon M. Goldstein) closed out the Wilkes singles winners with a 6-4, 6-4 victory in the sixth and final round of the day against Bloomsburg's Nenyi Micah. In doubles competition, Wilkes teams posted wins in ten of the 14 doubles matches they played in. The Parfianowicz brothers grabbed a pair of victories to lead the way for Wilkes. Wilkes returns to dual match play Friday when the Colonels host Arcadia University at 3:00 p.m. at the Ralston Athletic Complex.
