Wilkes Men's Tennis Finishes Day One at Ranger Invitational
MADISON, NJ – The Wilkes University men's tennis team opened its 2016 spring campaign competing at the Ranger Invitational hosted by Drew University Saturday afternoon.
In singles action,
Courtney Murphy (Bronx, NY/Christopher Columbus) recorded a pair of victories including a 4-6, 6-4, 11-9 win over Lucas Bocaletto of Chestnut Hill College.
Troy Haas (Huntington Station, NY/Walt Whitman) also picked up a singles win against CHC winning 6-3, 6-4 over Henry Boyle.
Artyom Nabokin (Danvers, MA/Danvers) went 9-8 (7-2) to secure the final Wilkes singles win against CHC.
Wilkes went a perfect 10-0 in singles play against Roger Williams later in the day. The Colonels recived straight set wins from Murphy,
Max Appello (Sparta, NJ/Sparta),
Adam Lefkandinos (Toms River, NJ/Toms River North),
Michael Kranz (Depew, NY/Lancaster Central), Haas,
Brian Murray (Brooklyn, NY/Leon M. Goldstein), Nabokin,
Andrew Neidig (Matamoras, PA/Delaware Valley),
Collin Strunk (Blakeslee, PA/Pocono Mountain West) and
Jonathan White (Saylorsburg, PA/Pleasant Valley).
In doubles competition, Appello and Kranz recorded an 8-6 victory over CHC.
