HILTON HEAD ISLAND, SC – The Wilkes University men's tennis team opened day one of its spring break trip in fine fashion scoring a 9-0 win over Susquehanna University Monday afternoon.
 
With the win Wilkes remains unbeaten at 7-0 in dual match play.
 
The Colonels cruised to a 3-0 lead after doubles play thanks to wins from Troy Haas (Huntington Station, NY/Walt Whitman) and Andrew Neidig (Matamoras, PA/Delaware Valley) at No. 1, Artyom Nabokin (Danvers, MA/Danvers) and Jonathan White (Saylorsburg, PA/Pleasant Valley) at No. 2 and Collin Strunk (Blakeslee, PA/Pocono Mountain West) and Braddock Chow (Glen Cove, NY/Glen Cove) at No. 3.
 
Wilkes then went on to post victories in all six singles flights in straight set fashion. Brian Murray (Brooklyn, NY/Leon M. Goldstein) led the way at the top spot for the Colonels going 6-3, 7-5 to record the win. Nabokin, Neidig, Strunk, White and Gabriel Velez (Allentown, PA/Allentown Central Catholic) followed with wins at No. 2 through 6 to seal the shutout.
 
Wilkes resumes play tomorrow with matches against Bridgewater College (Va.) at 8:30 a.m. and Baldwin Wallace at 2:00 p.m.
