SCRANTON, PA – The Wilkes University men's tennis team blanked host Marywood University 9-0 in a non-conference match Wednesday afternoon.
 
With the win Wilkes improves to 12-1 overall while Marywood drops to 2-4 overall on the season after the home defeat.
 
Wilkes opened with a 3-0 lead after sweeping all three doubles matches before taking six-of-six in singles play using super set scoring.
 
Courtney Murphy (Bronx, NY/Christopher Columbus) claimed an 8-4 win at No. 1 followed by Dominic Parfianowicz (Elmira, NY/Elmira Free Academy) winning 8-1 at No. 2 singles. Michael Kranz (Depew, NY/Lancaster Central) won at No. 3 (8-3), Collin Strunk (Blakeslee, PA/Pocono Mountain West) at No. 4 (8-2), Braddock Chow (Glen Cove, NY/Glen Cove) at No. 5 (8-0) and Gabriel Velez (Allentown, PA/Allentown Central Catholic) at No. 6 (8-0) as Wilkes earned its twelfth win of the season.
 
Wilkes opens MAC Freedom play Saturday hosting cross-town rival King's College at 11:00 a.m. before a non-league match against Penn State Abington at 3:30 p.m. at the Ralston Athletic Complex.
