Wilkes Men's Tennis Has Strong Showing on Day One of Ranger Invitational
MADISON, NJ – The Wilkes University men's tennis team opened its 2017 spring campaign in fine fashion with a strong showing at the Ranger Invitational hosted by Drew University on Saturday.
In doubles play against Dickinson College, the duo of
Courtney Murphy (Bronx, NY/Christopher Columbus) and
Jonathan White (Saylorsburg, PA/Pleasant Valley) took its match 8-4 at No. 1.
Adam Lefkandinos (Toms River, NJ/Toms River North) and
Andrew Neidig (Matamoras, PA/Delaware Valley) won 8-2 at No. 2.
Artyom Nabokin (Las Vegas, NV/Danvers) and
Troy Haas (Huntington Station, NY/Walt Whitman) were 8-3 winners at No. 3 while
Braddock Chow (Glen Cove, NY/Glen Cove) and
Gabriel Velez (Allentown, PA/Allentown Central Catholic) secured an 8-4 win at No. 4.
In singles play against Roger Williams, Wilkes saw eight of its nine players win matches. Murphy, Nabokin, Lefkandinos, White, Haas, Neidig,
Chris Maderitz (York, PA/Central York) and
Will Miller (Elmira, NY/Elmira Free Academy) all were singles winners for the Colonels.
In singles competition against Dickinson, Wilkes secured victories in six of the eight matches played. Murphy, Nabokin, Lefkandinos, Haas, Maderitz and Chow were the singles winners in the flight.
