EDWARDSVILLE – The Wilkes University men's tennis team posted a 9-0 sweep of Eastern University Wednesday afternoon at the Ralston Athletic Complex before beating Yeshiva 6-3 in a split squad match later in the night.
 
With the home victory Wilkes improved its overall record to 10-3 and stands 2-0 in league play.
 
The Colonels opened the match with three doubles wins to jump out to a 3-0 lead entering singles competition. There, Wilkes scored six straight singles flight wins to clinch the match.
 
Artyom Nabokin (Las Vegas, NV/Danvers) posted a 6-0, 3-6, 10-6 win at No. 1 followed by Adam Lefkandinos (Toms River, NJ/Toms River North)' straight set 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 2. Jonathan White (Saylorsburg, PA/Pleasant Valley) went 6-2, 6-1 at No. 3 before wins from Troy Haas (Huntington Station, NY/Walt Whitman) (6-0, 6-0), Braddock Chow (Glen Cove, NY/Glen Cove) (6-0, 6-1) and Chris Maderitz (York, PA/Central York) (6-0, 6-0) at No. 4 through No. 6.

Wilkes opened with two wins in doubles play against Yeshiva before the bottom half of the Colonel lineup clinched the road match. White, Haas, Chow and Maderitz all won in singles play from No. 3 through No. 6.
 
Wilkes continues MAC Freedom play Saturday traveling to Madison, NJ for a match with FDU-Florham at 11:00 a.m.
