Wilkes Basketball Set to Host Crosstown Rival King's on Hall of Fame Day

WILKES-BARRE – The Wilkes University men's and women's basketball teams will host crosstown rival King's College in Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) action Saturday afternoon at the Marts Center on Hall of Fame Day.

The women will tip-off at 12:00 p.m. with the men to follow at 2:00 p.m. Wilkes will honor its five inductees into the 2017 Hall of Fame at halftime of the men's game. Live links are provided below for anyone who cannot attend:

The Lady Colonels enter Saturday's game at 4-11 overall and 0-5 in MAC Freedom games after falling to DeSales University 101-36 at the Marts Center Wednesday night.

Gianna Roberts (Nanticoke, PA/Nanticoke) leads Wilkes with 10.2 points-per-game (ppg) and is second on the team with 6.6 rebounds-per-game (rpg). Alyssa Alfano (Dunmore, PA/Holy Cross) is averaging 9.9 ppg and leads the team with 2.5 assists-per-game (apg). Catey McFadden (Doylestown, PA/Archbishop Wood)'s 7.4 rpg rank seventh in the conference and she is scoring 9.8 ppg. She also ranks fourth in the MAC Freedom with 1.2 blocks-per-game.

Wilkes is scoring 60.3 ppg while its opponents are averaging 77.5 ppg.

King's comes into the game at 8-8 overall and 3-2 in the conference. The Lady Monarchs are coming off a 64-38 loss at Misericordia University Wednesday night.

Rebecca Prociak leads King's with 12.9 ppg and also pulls down 8.3 rpg. Mackenzie Yori is second on the team with 11.6 ppg and has made 32 three-point field goals this season. Alexis Steeber also averages in double figures in scoring with 10.9 ppg while Olivia Hoffman leads the Lady Monarchs with 8.5 rpg and 2.9 apg.

The Lady Monarchs are scoring 58.9 ppg and allowing 59.1 ppg.

The Colonels are 11-5 overall and 4-1 in their MAC Freedom games entering Saturday's matchup. Wilkes was able to make the necessary plays down the stretch of Wednesday night's game against DeSales to come away with a 72-66 victory in the Marts Center.

Marcus Robinson (Swedesboro, NJ/Kingsway Regional) is 10 points away from becoming the 32nd player in Wilkes men's basketball history to score 1,000 career points. He is currently third in the MAC Freedom with 14.8 ppg and 40 three-pointers. Rob Pecorelli (Huntington, NY/Harborfields) 14.4 ppg (5th in the MAC Freedom), Mark Mullins (Binghamton, NY/Chenango Valley) 12.9 ppg (T-9th), and Connor Evans (Cicero, NY/Cicero-North Syracuse) 11.5 ppg (18th) are also scoring in double figures. Zach Brunner (Mechanicsburg, PA/Mechanicsburg) is tied for third in the conference with 7.1 rpg and Mullins is tied for seventh with 6.8 rpg. Mason Gross (Pittston, PA/Pittston) came off the bench to score a season-high 12 points against DeSales.

Wilkes is averaging 76.1 ppg while allowing 69.6 ppg.

King's is 7-9 overall and 3-2 in conference games after falling at Misericordia 85-78 Wednesday night.

Connor Callejas is the MAC Freedom's second leading scorer with 18.0 ppg and is tied for the conference lead with 44 three-pointers made. Chris Fazzini is also scoring in double figures with 12.4 ppg and is third in the conference shooting 50.6 percent from the floor. He leads King's in rebounding with 5.8 per-game.

The Monarchs lead the conference with 81.6 ppg but allow a MAC Freedom worst 84.1 ppg.
