Wilkes Basketball Visits Manhattanville on Saturday
WILKES-BARRE – The Wilkes University men's and women's basketball teams will travel to Manhattanville on Saturday afternoon to continue the opening week of Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) play.

The women's squad comes into this matchup 3-6 overall (0-1 MAC Freedom) after falling to Misericordia 78-54 at home on Wednesday.
The Colonels are led by senior Gab Giordano (Moscow, PA/Holy Cross) who is averaging a double-double with 11.7 ppg (15th) and 10.6 rebounds (first) in addition to 3.2 assists (seventh). Point guard Alyssa Alfano (Dunmore, PA/Holy Cross) sits at 20th in the conference in scoring with her 10.9 ppg. The junior has been doing her part as a distributor with 3.4 dimes (sixth) and a 1.3 assist to turnover ratio (fourth) while leading the conference in free throw percentage (87%). The other double-digit scorer for the Colonels is senior Ashley Caster (York, PA/Spring Grove) (10.5 ppg) who leads the MAC Freedom with a 56 percent field goal percentage.
Wilkes is averaging 70.0 ppg while allowing 75.6 ppg.
Manhattanville enters Saturday's contest undefeated at 7-0 after defeating Delaware Valley, 70-58, in their conference opener.
The Valiants have two players inside the top ten in conference scoring in senior Kayleah McGuire and sophomore Sarah Coutu. McGuire is averaging 15.1 ppg (seventh) and 7.9 rebounds (sixth) while ranking sixth in field goal percentage (49%). Coutu scores 14.7 ppg (ninth) and ranks fourth in the MAC Freedom in assists (3.7) while shooting 45 percent from the floor (14th).
Manhattanville is averaging 72.9 ppg while leading the conference in opponent scoring (43.6 ppg).
The men's team enters this matchup 6-1 overall and 1-0 in the MAC Freedom after defeating Misericordia in the conference opener, 81-78, on Wednesday night at the Marts Center.
Wilkes is led by the trio of Rob Pecorelli (Huntington, NY/Harborfields), Mark Mullins (Binghamton, NY/Chenango Valley) and Marcus Robinson (Swedesboro, NJ/Kingsway Regional), all of whom rank inside the conference's top seven in scoring.
Pecorelli's 19.7 point per game (ppg) ranks third in the conference to go along with 6.0 rebounds on 45 percent shooting from the floor and 82 percent from the line (seventh). The junior does a little bit of everything as he currently ranks ninth in the MAC Freedom in both assists (2.9) and steals (1.6). Mullins, another junior, is off to a strong start for the navy and gold as he's averaging 19.1 points (fourth) and 7.7 boards (eighth) while shooting 56 percent from the floor (fifth) and making 90 percentage of his free throws (second). Robinson, a senior, is a jack of all trades as he sits at seventh in the MAC Freedom in scoring (15.9 ppg) to go along with 4.6 boards, 3.1 assists (eighth) and 1.9 steals (tied-fourth).
Wilkes leads the conference in scoring, averaging 84.3 ppg while ranking second in opponents scoring (70.0 ppg).
Manhattanville enters this game 4-4 after dropping their conference opener on the road at Delaware Valley, 81-68, on Wednesday evening.
The Valiants are led by sophomore Sean Smith and junior JoJo Cobbs, who rank fifth and sixth respectively in the MAC Freedom in scoring. Smith, who is averaging 19.1 points, also pulls down 9.3 boards (second) while shooting 44 percent from the field. Cobbs scores 18.7 a game and adds 2.7 helpers while hitting 37 percent of his three-pointers. Sophomore Mike Granda is lighting it up from beyond the arc so far this season, currently ranking second in the conference at 51 percent.
Manhattanville trails only the Colonels in scoring, averaging 84.0 ppg but allows the most ppg in the MAC Freedom at 81.9 ppg.
