HILTON HEAD ISLAND, SC – The Wilkes University men's tennis team concluded its spring break trip on Thursday going 2-1 in three matches on the day. The Colonels opened with a 6-3 win over Bridgewater College before falling 7-2 against Williams Woods. Wilkes finished the night with a 7-2 victory over Catholic University in its nightcap.
 
Wilkes went 4-2 on the six-match trip and stand 7-2 overall in dual matches on the season.
 
In the match against Bridgewater, Wilkes opened claiming all six singles flights with three coming in straight sets thanks to Jonathan White (Saylorsburg, PA/Pleasant Valley), Andrew Neidig (Matamoras, PA/Delaware Valley) and Ryan Simon (Mahwah, NJ/De Paul Diocesan).
 
Chris Maderitz (York, PA/Central York) was the lone singles winner in the loss against Williams Woods. Neidig and Larry Scartz (Woodbridge, VA/Home School) took their No. 3 doubles match 8-3 to round out the Colonels scoring.
 
Wilkes was impressive again in singles play against Catholic taking all six singles flights in straight sets on way to the win.
 
Wilkes is back home Sunday hosting Yeshiva University at 5:00 p.m. at the Kingston Indoor Tennis Club.
