Wilkes Men's Cross Country Sets Personal Bests at Paul Short Run

BETHLEHEM, PA – Nine members of the Wilkes University men's cross country team set personal-best 8k times at the 46th Lehigh Paul Short Run. The Colonels placed 31st of 40 teams with 863 points in the Men's College White 8k on Saturday with this being the first time this season that Wilkes has competed at the 8k distance.

Noah Molina (Scranton, PA/West Scranton) paced the Colonels in 173rd place out of 326 runners with a time of 28:20.2. John Zick (Middletown, NY/John S. Burke) set his career-best time with a 28:47.4 to place in 186th. Kevin Singhel (Athens, PA/Athens Area) also ran a personal-best with a 29:27.3 to finish 204th overall. Alan Sebastianelli (Archbald, PA/Valley View) placed 216th with a time of 29:55.5 and Kevin Long (Goshen, NY/Goshen) rounded out the scorers for Wilkes with a 30:09.6 in 226th place.

Jason Montemuro (Jim Thorpe, PA/Jim Thorpe) ran a personal-best with a 30:11.5 in 228th. Freshman Owen Ebersole (King of Prussia, PA/Upper Merion Area) completed his first collegiate 8k in 238th to set his time to beat at 30:30.9. Colin Ahrensfield (Ashland, PA/North Schuylkill) ran his career-best with a 30:52.5 to finish 249th and Kaleb Hanson Richart (Wilkes-Barre, PA/Meyers) also ran his personal-best time in 251st with a 30:56.8. Freshman Christopher Lombardo (Matawan, NJ/Matawan Regional) placed 270th in his first 8k with a 31:46.6.

Three Colonels competed in a field of 612 runners in the Open Men's 8k. Brandon Whitman (Mountain Top, PA/Crestwood) ran his career-best time of 31:22.6 to place 548th. Freshman Liam Flynn (Oneonta, NY/Oneonta) set his time to beat at 32:28.9 to place 564th and Dylan Corriere (Easton, PA/Wilson Area) placed 578th with a time of 33:31.2.

The Colonels return to the course on Saturday, October 12 at the Golden Eagle Invitational hosted by St. Joseph's College (LI) at Bethpage State Park at 1:00 p.m.
