WEST WINDSOR TOWNSHIP, NJ - The Wilkes University women's tennis squad traveled to West Windsor Township, N.J. to play in the Fall Kickoff Tournament hosted by Stevens Saturday.  Singles were played today and doubles will be played tomorrow.

Senior Dana Saliyev (Jamison, PA/Central Bucks South), senior Laura Zielinski (Mt. Wolf, PA/Northeastern), junior Dagney Markle (New Oxford, PA/New Oxford), junior Sarah Malone (Williamsport, PA/Loyalsock) and sophomore Alexa Cieri (Matawan, NJ/St. John Vianney) each won two matches on the day, toppling their opponents from Stevens in the first set of matches and Ithaca in the second set of matches.  Sophomore Dasha Yakhnis (Verona, NJ/Verona) won a match against Ithaca while sophomore Rachel Thomas (Hughesville, PA/Hughesville) won in the second set of matches against Stevens.
 
In singles, Wilkes took six victories out of eight matches against both Stevens and Ithaca on the day.  Five of six Colonels victories were in straight sets versus Ithaca, while four out of six victories against Stevens were in straight sets. 
 
Markle and Cieri claimed both of their victories in straight sets on the day.
 
The Colonels will return to the courts for noon tomorrow to play the doubles portion of the women's Doubles Fall Kickoff Tournament in West Windsor Township, N.J.
