Wilkes Men's and Women's Basketball Traveling to Delaware Valley Wednesday

WILKES-BARRE – The Wilkes University men's and women's basketball teams will travel to Delaware Valley University  to continue Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) play Wednesday in Doylestown, Pa. The men's game will begin at 6:00 p.m. with the women following 8:00 p.m.

Women's Preview:
Wilkes enters Saturday's contest with a 7-10 overall record, 1-5 in MAC Freedom games and are coming off a 66-65 win at FDU-Florham Saturday afternoon.

Katelyn Kinczel (Highland Heights, OH/Mayfield) led the Colonels with 13 points against the Devils in their last matchup. The freshman guard ranks sixth on the team in scoring average at 4.2 points-per-game (ppg). Fellow teammate Gabby Smicherko (Edwardsville, PA/Wyoming Valley West), who was recognized this week as the MAC Freedom Defensive Player of the Week, also was a great contributor as she put up 11 points. Smicherko currently ranks top-25 in the MAC Freedom for rebounding and blocked shots at 4.6 and 13, respectively.

Senior center Gianna Roberts (Nanticoke, PA/Nanticoke) put 11 points on the board on Saturday and ranks third on the team for points at 7.2 ppg. Roberts also is ranked on the top-25 list in the conference with rebounding (4.5 rpg) along with blocked shots (1.0 bpg).

Wilkes ranks seventh in the conference in scoring offense at 54.4 ppg and fourth in scoring defense, allowing 61.5 ppg.

Delaware Valley enters with a 1-16 overall record, 0-6 record in conference play.

Lauren Moretti leads the Aggies in scoring at 13.8 ppg and ranks eighth in the conference in scoring and top-25 for rebounding. Shayne Glenn follows close behind at 12.3 ppg and also ranks in the MAC Freedom top-25.

Delaware Valley ranks eighth in the conference in scoring offense with 53.4 ppg and eighth in scoring defense at 74.7 ppg.

The Aggies hold the 17-3 lead in the series against Wilkes dating back to the 2010 season.

Men's Preview:
Wilkes is 8-9 overall and 1-5 in the MAC Freedom play after a 77-70 loss against FDU-Florham on Saturday afternoon.

Senior guard Rob Pecorelli (Huntington, NY/Harborfields) put up 15 points against the Devils in the teams last matchup and ranks fifth in the MAC Freedom in scoring, averaging 15.7 ppg. Pecorelli ranks among the top in a handful of other categories, such as rebounding where he takes eighth and assists where he is second.

Fellow senior guard Mark Mullins (Binghamton, NY/Chenango Valley) also contributed 15 points against FDU-Florham and ranks among the top-25 in many conference stats; sixth in scoring and rebounding, 13th in three-point field-goal percentage and steals. Freshman guard Bradley Anacreon (Nesconset, NY/Sachem North) moved into the starting lineup two games ago and scored 10 points at FDU-Florham.

The Colonels lead the conference in scoring offense averaging 78.1 ppg and sixth in scoring defense with 74.6 ppg.

Delaware Valley is set to host the Colonels with a 5-11 overall record and a 1-5 MAC Freedom conference record.

Damian Washington leads the Aggies in points averaging 19.7 ppg, which leads the conference. Washington also ranks third in rebounding and seventh in blocked shots. Teammates Jordan Tucker and Mike Cianciulli take seventh and eighth place in scoring within the MAC Freedom at 15.1 ppg and 13.8 ppg, respectively.

Delaware Valley ranks fifth in the MAC Freedom in scoring offense with 71.9 ppg and eighth in scoring defense with 76.4 ppg.

The Aggies hold a 14-8 lead in the series against Wilkes dating to the 2010 season.
