Wilkes Basketball Continues MAC Freedom Play Returning Home To Host Misericordia
 
WILKES-BARRE – The Wilkes University men's and women's basketball teams will be playing host to Misericordia University Wednesday from the Marts Center for a Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) doubleheader. The men's game is set to tip-off at 6:00 p.m. followed by the women's game at 8:00 p.m.

Men's Preview:
Wilkes enters Wednesday's game with a 9-12 overall record and 2-8 in MAC Freedom play after dropping their last three games and more recently an 81-72 loss to DeSales.
 
Senior guard Rob Pecorelli (Huntington, NY/Harborfields) put up 30 points in a loss versus Stevens last week and ranks first on the team with points, averaging 18.6 ppg. Pecorelli ranks in the top-five on the MAC Freedom overall scoring list, while also holding a top-five ranking in assists with 4.2 per-game.
 
Mark Mullins (Binghamton, NY/Chenango Valley) 13 points and four rebounds against Stevens and ranks in the top-ten for both scoring and rebounding averaging 14.7 ppg and 6.9 rbg. Derek Heiserman (Lansdale, PA/North Penn) put up eight points and grabbed eight boards in the Colonels overtime loss to Eastern. Jake Robel (Middlesex, NJ/Middlesex) is first on the team and third in the conference in shooting percentage as he shoots 59.4 percent from the field.
 
The Colonels lead the conference in scoring offense averaging 77.0 ppg and are fifth in scoring defense with 74.8 ppg.
 
Misericordia comes into the game with a 7-14 overall record and a 3-7 MAC Freedom record.
 
Noah Rivera leads the way for the Cougars in scoring averaging 12.9 ppg. Rivera also leads the MAC Freedom in rebounding averaging 10.5 rpg. Tony Harding is not far behind Rivera when it comes to scoring as he averages 11.6 ppg.
 
The Cougars rank last in scoring offense with 64.6 ppg and fourth in scoring defense with 73.3 ppg.
 
The Cougars currently hold a 13-12 lead in the series against the Colonels dating back to 2009. Wilkes however has a 7-4 all-time record versus Misericordia when playing at home.
 
Women's Preview:
Wilkes enters Saturday's contest with an overall 8-13 record and a 2-8 conference record after a tough game on Saturday at DeSales as the Colonels fell 90-34.
 
Gianna Roberts (Nanticoke, PA/Nanticoke) put up 16 points in a recent Colonels game against Stevens; she is now averaging 7.4 ppg on the season. Roberts is also in the top twenty-five for the conference with 4.6 rpg. Maddie Kelley (Dallas, PA/Dallas) currently leads the team in scoring with 8.7 ppg and is in the top 10 for the conference when it comes to rebounding with 6.2 a game.  
 
Freshman guard Macy Berryman (Stroudsburg, PA/Pocono Mountain East) recently put up 11 points against Eastern. Berryman currently leads the team and is in the top ten for three point percentage as she shoots 34 percent from beyond the arc.  Alyssa Alfano (Dunmore, PA/Holy Cross) had 13 points in that same game which brings her average up to 4.7 ppg.
 
Wilkes is currently tied for seventh in scoring offense with 53.9 ppg and fourth in scoring defense with 63.2 ppg.
 
Misericordia enters with a 19-2 overall record and is receiving national votes in the D3hoops.com Top 25 Poll. The Cougars are tied for first-place in the MAC Freedom with a 9-1 record.
 
Tessa Zamolyi currently leads the team in scoring and is top five in the conference with 15.3 ppg, Zamolyi is also first in the conference with 10.8 rpg. Jordan Barth is second in scoring for the Cougars with 12.5 ppg and finds herself in the conference's top five rebounders with 8.9 a game.
 
The Cougars rank first in scoring offense with 74.0 ppg and second in scoring defense with 58.1 ppg.
 
Misericordia holds a 17-5 lead over the Colonels in the series against Wilkes dating back to the 2009-2010 season including a 74-41 victory in Dallas, Pa. on January 8th.
