Wilkes Men's Ice Hockey Set for UCHC Semifinal Series Against Stevenson
WILKES-BARRE – The second seeded Wilkes University men's ice hockey team is set to host the 2020 United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) Semifinal Series against third seeded Stevenson University Friday and Saturday at the Toyota SportsPlex at Coal Street Park.
Puck drop for both games is 5:00 p.m. Tickets will be sold at the door. Prices are set by the conference as followed:

Wilkes is making its second straight UCHC postseason appearance after finishing the regular season with an 18-7 overall record and 14-4 in UCHC play earning the second seed and a bye into the semifinal series round. The Colonels and Mustangs met twice during the season with Wilkes taking both contests, 3-2 on the road and 6-0 at home in a game that clinched the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) title. Wilkes owns a 10-2 record at the Toyota SportsPlex this year, winners of its last five home games dating back to January 17
th.
Wilkes is led by its high-powered top line in
Tyler Barrow (Massapequa, NY/),
Donald Flynn (Randolph, NJ/) and
Nick Fea (Oak Ridge, NJ/). Barrow, the MAC Offensive Player of the Year, has posted 34 points on 12 goals and 22 assists. Flynn leads all of Division III with 2.08 points per-game after a fine sophomore season that saw him collect 51 points on 26 goals and 25 assists. Fea rounds out Wilkes' top scorers with 46 points on 11 goals and a team-best 35 assists.
Anchoring the Wilkes defense is rookie goalie
Michael Paterson-Jones (Baldwinsville, NY) who owns a 15-4 record in net including two shutouts with a 2.75 goals against average and 471 saves.
Stevenson enters the series with a 17-7-2 overall record finishing UCHC play with a 13-4-1 mark on way to third place. The Mustangs earned their way to the semifinal round after an 8-4 home victory over sixth seeded Neumann University on Wednesday night. Stevenson is 7-2-1 on the road this season and is averaging 4.2 goals per-game in those contests, however the Mustangs are 0-2-1 on the road in February with losses to Wilkes and Utica.
Dominic Brenza tops six Mustangs who have recorded 20 or more points on the season posting 30 points on six goals and 24 assists. Nick Gray has 29 points on 20 goals and nine helpers including a hat trick in the win over Neumann in the first round. Austin Master, the MAC Rookie of the Year, and Ryan Patrick contribute 28 points each combining for 17 goals and 39 assists.
Stevenson also boasts a strong rookie in goal as Ryan Kenny owns a 13-5-2 record with a 2.85 GAA and 497 saves.
The winner of the semifinal series will advance to the UCHC Championship series next weekend and will face the winner of the other semifinal between top-seeded Utica College and fifth seeded Nazareth College.
