Wilkes Basketball Set for Wednesday Games at Stevens
 
WILKES-BARRE – The Wilkes University men's and women's basketball teams will continue Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) play Wednesday evening when they travel to Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, N.J. The men's game will begin at 6:00 p.m. with the women following at 8:00 p.m.

Men's Preview:
Wilkes is 9-10 overall and 2-6 in MAC Freedom play after a 73-70 overtime loss against Eastern on Saturday afternoon.
 
Senior guard Rob Pecorelli (Huntington, NY/Harborfields) scored a game-high 25 points for the Colonels against the Eagles in the teams' last matchup. Pecorelli ranks fifth in the MAC Freedom in scoring, averaging 18.3 ppg. Pecorelli went a perfect 10-10 from the free-throw line in the loss on Saturday and ranks third in the conference in free-throw percentage. Fellow senior Mark Mullins (Binghamton, NY/Chenango Valley) contributed 11 points and five rebounds against Eastern and ranks seventh in the MAC Freedom in scoring, averaging 15 ppg.
 
Sophomore guard Drake Marshall (Gainesville, VA/Patriot) scored 10 points and pulled down six rebounds against the Eagles in his first career start for the Colonels.
 
The Colonels lead the conference in scoring offense averaging 77.5 ppg and rank fifth in scoring defense with 74.1 ppg.
 
Stevens is set to host the Colonels with a 15-4 overall record and a 6-2 MAC Freedom conference record.
 
Spencer Cook leads the Ducks in scoring averaging 19.6 ppg, which leads the conference. Cook also leads the conference in both three-point field goal percentage and free-throw percentage. Alec DiPietrantonio is averaging 12.6 ppg for Stevens and ranks second in the MAC Freedom in rebounding, averaging 9.6 rebounds-per-game.
 
Stevens ranks third in the MAC Freedom in scoring offense with 73.7 ppg and first in scoring defense with 65.5 ppg.
 
The Ducks gained an early 1-0 advantage in the series when they took down the Colonels on January 11th at Marts Center in a 58-55 final.

Women's Preview
Wilkes enters Wednesday's contest with an overall 8-11 record and a 2-6 conference record after falling to Eastern University on Saturday by a 63-59 final.
 
Senior guard Alyssa Alfano (Dunmore, PA/Holy Cross) scored a season-high 13 points against the Eagles in their last contest. Fellow senior Gianna Roberts (Nanticoke, PA/Nanticoke) contributed 10 points and five rebounds on Saturday. Roberts ranks third on the team for points at 7.3 ppg.
 
Freshman guard Macy Berryman (Stroudsburg, PA/Pocono Mountain East) added 11 points for Wilkes on Saturday, including two three-pointers. Berryman leads the team with 35 made three-pointers on the season and ranks seventh in the conference in made three-pointers. Fellow teammate Maddie Kelley (Dallas, PA/Dallas) nearly posted a double-double against Eastern as she contributed nine points and 10 rebounds. Kelley leads the Colonels in scoring with 9.1 ppg and ranks among the MAC Freedom top-25 in scoring.
 
Wilkes ranks seventh in the conference in scoring offense at 55.3 ppg and fourth in scoring defense, allowing 61.4 ppg.
 
Stevens enters with a 7-12 overall record, 4-4 record in conference play.
 
Jess Broad leads the Ducks in scoring at 14.6 ppg and ranks seventh in the conference in scoring and eighth for rebounding. Christina Li ranks second for Stevens in scoring at 10 ppg and also ranks in the MAC Freedom top-25.
 
The Ducks rank fourth in the conference in scoring offense at 63.2 ppg and sixth in scoring defense, allowing 67.5 ppg.
 
Stevens won the only matchup between the two schools on January 11th at Marts Center in an 85-54 final.
