Spurrier Leads Wilkes Men's Cross Country at Inter-Regional Border Battle
LOGAN TWP. N.J. – The Wilkes University men's cross country team placed 17th of 26 teams in the 8k Open Division at the 2021 Inter-Regional Border Battle hosted by Rowan University at DREAM Park Saturday. First year
Zachary Spurrier (Frederick, MD/Middletown) recorded a personal best run.
Results
Wilkes scored 459 team points among its top five finishers in the race that featured 208 total runners.
Spurrier paced the Colonels with a career best time of 29:51.2 that shaved nearly 40 seconds off his previous best as he placed 66th overall.
First year
Ryan Djurkovic (Greenwich, CT/Greenwich) placed 105th with a time of 30:57.4 and sophomore
Christopher Lombardo (Matawan, NJ/Matawan Regional) was 126th as he finished in 31:31.8. First year
Raymond Anderson (Syracuse, NY/Onondaga) completed the course in 31:38.7 to finish 128th and first year
Dustin Edsall (Honesdale, PA/Honesdale) rounded out the scorers for Wilkes in 140th with a time of 31:59.1

Richard Stafford (Blue Point, NY/Bayport-Blue Point) (151st, 32:47.2), first year
Frank Yuscavage (Hanover Township, PA/Hanover Area) (155th, 33:02.3) and junior
Brandon Whitman (Mountain Top, PA/Crestwood) (180th, 35:56.2) rounded out the Colonels competing.
Lynchburg took the team title in the Open Division with 51 team points while Charlie Teeter of Johns Hopkins was the overall winner with a time of 26:30.4.
The Colonels return to the course in less than a week when they travel to Lebanon, Pa. to take part in the LVC Last Chance Run at Union Canal Tunnel Park on Friday.
