Wilkes Men's Cross Country Places Ninth at MAC Championships
CENTER VALLEY, PA – The Wilkes University men's cross country team finished ninth of 14 teams at the 2021 Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Championships Saturday at DeSales University.

The Colonels earned 320 points among its five scoring runners to place ninth in the 8k event. Messiah University won the team title with 57 points. There was a field of 141 total runners as Logan Horst of Messiah earned the MAC Runner of the Year award as the individual champion as he finished with a time of 26:33.2.
First year
Zachary Spurrier (Frederick, MD/Middletown) recorded a career best time of 29:06.1 to place 50th overall as he paced the Colonels on the course. First year
Raymond Anderson (Syracuse, NY/Onondaga) was 60th overall with a 30.16.3 and first year
Ryan Djurkovic (Greenwich, CT/Greenwich) placed 90th with a 30:51.6. Sophomore
Christopher Lombardo (Matawan, NJ/Matawan Regional) was 93rd with a 31:06.3. First year
Dustin Edsall (Honesdale, PA/Honesdale) set a career best with a time of 31:07.8 to place 94th as he rounded out the Colonels to score.
Four more Colonels competed at the 2021 MAC Championships with first year
Richard Stafford (Blue Point, NY/Bayport-Blue Point) placing 102nd with a 31:39.1. First year
Frank Yuscavage (Hanover Township, PA/Hanover Area) (115th, 33:20.4), junior
Kaleb Hanson-Richart (Wilkes-Barre, PA/Meyers) (116th, 33:33.0), and junior
Brandon Whitman (Mountain Top, PA/Crestwood) (34:03.3) rounded out the group.
The Colonels will finish their 2021 season at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional on Saturday, November 13 hosted by Dickinson College.
