Wilkes Men's Cross Country Closes Season in 23rd at NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional

NEWVILLE, PA – The Wilkes University men's cross country team placed 23rd of 31 teams at the 2021 NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional on Saturday at Big Spring High School to close its season.

The Colonels scored 702 team points among its five scoring runners. There were 223 total runners at the Mid-Atlantic Regional hosted by Dickinson College.

Zachary Spurrier (Frederick, MD/Middletown) placed highest for the Colonels as the first year came in 112th overall at a time of 29:44.9. Raymond Anderson (Syracuse, NY/Onondaga) followed in 123rd with a time of 30:09.5. Dustin Edsall (Honesdale, PA/Honesdale) placed 153rd with a finishing time of 31:12.6. Finishing in 31:48.0 was Ryan Djurkovic (Greenwich, CT/Greenwich) as he was 166th. Christopher Lombardo (Matawan, NJ/Matawan Regional) rounded out the scorers for Wilkes with a 32:20.2 to place 172nd.

Frank Yuscavage (Hanover Township, PA/Hanover Area) (173rd, 32:24.4) and Brandon Whitman (Mountain Top, PA/Crestwood) (182nd, 32:54.7) rounded out the Colonel participants.

Carnegie Mellon earned the NCAA Championship Automatic Bid by placing first overall with a team score of 30 points. Christopher Scharf of Dickinson was the individual champion as he placed first with a time of 25:31.6.
