Wilkes Basketball Set for Saturday Trip to Arcadia

WILKES-BARRE – The Wilkes University women's and men's basketball teams are set to travel to Arcadia University for a pair of Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) contests on Saturday at Alumni Gymnasium in Glenside, Pa. The women's game will tip at 1:00 p.m. followed by the men's contest at 3:00 p.m.

Women's Preview:
Wilkes enters the conference matchup at 1-2 in the league and 3-6 overall following a 65-52 loss at Misericordia on Wednesday. The Colonels are 1-3 on the road this season.

Katelyn Kinczel (Highland Heights, OH/Mayfield) set a program single-game record with eight three-pointers in the Colonels victory over FDU-Florham last Saturday. She finished the game with a career high 28 points. Kinczel leads Wilkes and ranks tenth in the MAC Freedom with 11.9 points-per-game (ppg). She leads the conference with a .400 three-point shooting percentage and third with 2.7 made threes per-game. The junior is seventh overall with a .421 field-goal shooting percentage.

Julia Marino (Turnersville, NJ/Washington Township) continues to lead the conference with 4.7 assists-per-game (apg). Brianna Horton (Verona, NJ/Verona) is second on the team and 18th in the league at 8.7 ppg. Erin Shober (Reading, PA/Wilson) leads the Colonels with 5.4 rebounds-per-game (rpg) and is tied for the MAC Freedom lead with 2.0 blocks-per-game (bpg). She is third on the team in scoring at 6.9 ppg and led Wilkes on Wednesday with 14 points. Kendra Smith (Hughesville, PA/Hughesville) leads the Colonels with 14 steals and is fourth on the team with 4.8 ppg.

Wilkes is seventh of nine teams in the MAC Freedom with a 52.3 scoring average and sixth defensively allowing 62.7 ppg.

Arcadia comes in with a 2-5 overall record and also at 1-2 in the MAC Freedom after defeating Delaware Valley 67-63 on Wednesday at home. The Knights are 1-2 at home this season.

Julia Markowski is sixth in the conference with 15.7 ppg and fifth with 7.6 rpg to lead Arcadia. Mara Weaver averages 8.3 ppg and is seventh in the league with 1.6 made threes per-game. Scarlett Glasser-Nehls scores 7.4 ppg while ranking sixth in the MAC Freedom with 2.5 steals-per-game.

Arcadia is sixth in the MAC Freedom with 54.9 ppg and ranks seventh allowing 66.1 ppg.

Wilkes is 1-0 against Arcadia in the live stats era with the win coming during the 2008-09 season. The two teams will met for the first time since then as Arcadia makes the shift to the MAC Freedom.

Men's Preview:
Wilkes enters the road game with a 3-5 overall record and at 1-2 in the MAC Freedom following a 90-71 loss at Misericordia on Wednesday. The road-tested Colonels are 3-3 on their opponent's home courts this season.
 
Trent Fisher (Sellersville, PA/Pennridge) leads the team and is fourth in the conference with 15.4 ppg this season following a 19-point game against the Cougars. Drake Marshall (Gainesville, VA/Patriot) is ninth in the league in scoring at 13.5 ppg. Matthew Davidheiser (Reading, PA/Exeter Township) also scores in the double-figures with 10.4 ppg.

Marshall is ninth and Fisher 13th in the MAC Freedom with 6.6 and 6.3 rpg respectively to lead Wilkes. Davidheirser is second in the league with a .483 three-point shooting percentage as he has gone 14-for-29 on the season from deep. He is 12th with 1.8 three-pointers made per-game.

Marshall is third in the conference with 4.3 apg. Fisher is fifth in the league with 1.9 blocks-per-game and is eighth with 1.5 steals-per-game. Sean Coller (Hershey, PA/Hershey) is second on the team with 13 made threes and Cayden Merrifield (Scranton, PA/West Scranton) is third with 12. Merrifield averages 7.6 ppg and Coller 7.3.

Wilkes leads the MAC Freedom in scoring offense at 83.0 ppg while ranking eighth in scoring defense at 76.5 ppg.

Arcadia comes in at 1-9 overall and 1-2 in the conference following its first win of the season over Delaware Valley on Wednesday by an 83-57 score. The Knights are 1-4 at home this year.

Jalen Watkins is eighth in the MAC Freedom with 13.6 ppg and Samuel Majekodunmi is 11th with 12.9 ppg. Justin Money (12.5) and JoHann Vinson (10.8) also score in double-figures.

Watkins is tied for the league lead with 10.9 rpg as he averages a double-double through 10 games. Watkins is second with 2.2 bpg and third with a .536 field-goal shooting percentage among MAC Freedom players. Majekodunmi leads the Knights with 2.9 apg.

Arcadia is ranked seventh in the MAC Freedom with 68.5 ppg and is sixth allowing 76.0 ppg.

The series is tied 1-1 with each team winning once last year on their respective home courts as Arcadia competed in its first season in the MAC Freedom.
