Wilkes Women's Lacrosse to Face Stevens in MAC Freedom Quarterfinal
WILKES-BARRE – The sixth-seeded Wilkes University women's lacrosse team is set to face third-seeded Stevens Institute of Technology in a Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) quarterfinal on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. in Hoboken, N.J.

The Colonels earned the No. 6 seed with a 2-5 MAC Freedom record this season. Wilkes picked up wins at Arcadia on March 24th by an 8-7 score and at home against Delaware Valley on April 7th with a 16-11 final. Wilkes is 2-7 overall and lost to Stevens on March 27th 23-6 at home.
Domenica Lerch (Northampton, PA/Northampton) leads the Colonels with 15 points on 11 goals and four assists. She also heads Wilkes with 27 draw controls and is tied for the team lead along with
Delaney Lukowski (Seneca Falls, NY/Mynderse Academy) and
Jessica White (Willow Grove, PA/Upper Moreland) with nine caused turnovers.
Camryn Devitt (Northampton, PA/Northampton) leads the team with 12 goals while
Laura Bayzick (Hazleton, PA/Hazleton Area) is third on the team with 10.
Ashley Burkhardt (Havre de Grace, MD/Havre de Grace) is tied with Lerch for the team lead with four assists while also adding six goals.
Brooklyn Pedana (Yatesville, PA/Pittston Area) and
Laurel Hopfer (Monroe Twp., PA/Tunkhannock) are tied for the team lead with 17 ground balls this season.
Ashley Coughlin (Northampton, PA/Northampton) ranks fourth among MAC Freedom goalkeepers with 8.78 saves-per-game. She has recorded 79 total saves with an 18.04 goals-against-average and a .333 save percentage.
Stevens earned the No. 3 seed with a 5-2 conference mark while going 7-4 overall.
Kyra Bednarski leads the conference with 6.18 points-per-game as she totaled 68 during the regular season on 46 goals and 22 assists. She ranked second (2.00) in assists-per-game and third (4.18) goals-per-game. Camryn Rogers added 29 goals while Emily Shanklin and Zoe Cook had 21 and 20 respectively.
Maris Daly led the Ducks with 27 draw controls while Bednarski was the team leader with 20 ground balls and 14 caused turnovers. Peyton Taylor went 6-2 with 24 saves, a 9.97 goals-against-average, and a .282 save percentage as she started all 11 games in goal. Lauren Cunniff made 28 saves with an 8.89 goals-against-average and a .444 save percentage with a 1-2 record.
The 2021 MAC Freedom Women's Lacrosse Championship is slated to take place on Tuesday, April 27 with the quarterfinal round, Thursday, April 29 with the semifinal round and conclude on Saturday, May 1 with the title game. The MAC Freedom Champion will earn the conference's NCAA Division III Championship automatic qualifier (AQ).
The other quarterfinal matches feature No. 1 seed FDU-Florham hosting No. 8 Delaware Valley, No. 2 Misericordia hosting No. 7 Arcadia, and No. 4 King's hosting No. 5 DeSales.
