DALLAS, PA – The Wilkes University men's cross country team placed third of four teams at the Cougar Classic hosted by Misericordia on Saturday morning at Letterkenny Field.

Nine Colonels competed in the 6k race that featured 37 total runners, including two alumni runners from Misericordia. Wilkes scored 76 team points to finish behind Misericordia with 19 and King's with 58. Lycoming finished fourth with 88.

First year Zachary Spurrier (Frederick, MD/Middletown) led the Colonels, placing 12th overall with a time of 23:30.40. First year Richard Stafford (Blue Point, NY/Bayport-Blue Point) followed in 14th with a 23:37.50. First years Raymond Anderson (Syracuse, NY/Onondaga) took 15th with a time of 23:42.40 and Ryan Djurkovic (Greenwich, CT/Greenwich) was 16th with a 23:47.90. Sophomore Christopher Lombardo (Matawan, NJ/Matawan Regional) rounded out the Colonels to figure into the team score as he placed 21st overall with a 24:42.00.

Rounding out the remaining Colonel participants were Frank Yuscavage (Hanover Township, PA/Hanover Area) (25th, 25:15.20), Dustin Edsall (Honesdale, PA/Honesdale) (28th, 25:41.70), Brandon Whitman (Mountain Top, PA/Crestwood) (31st, 26:56.50), and Kaleb Hanson-Richart (Wilkes-Barre, PA/Meyers) (36th, 28:15.20).

Stephen Kober of Misericordia was the top finisher overall with a time of 20:48.70.

Wilkes returns to the course on Saturday, September 25 for the Dickinson Short-Long Invitational at Big Springs High School in Newville, Pa. at 10:30 a.m.
